Yemsrach Yetneberk, also known as Yemi, is an Ethiopian illustrator and trained architect whose work reflects the International Women’s Day 2026 theme by using creativity as a tool for awareness, dialogue, and social impact. Based in Addis Ababa, she founded Laughing Gas Design, an illustration company dedicated to communicating important social and political messages through press cartoons. Blending satire, humor, and visual storytelling, Yemi transforms complex domestic and global issues into accessible narratives that engage audiences of all ages. Drawing from her architectural background, she approaches illustration with structure, clarity, and thoughtful design, ensuring her work is both visually compelling and intellectually engaging. Through press cartoons, she educates the public, sparks conversation, and encourages critical thinking, demonstrating how art can bridge generations and perspectives.
