Nadia Darries is an animation director, writer, and co-founder of Cape Town-based studio GoonValley, whose work embodies the International Women’s Day 2026 theme by amplifying African voices and nurturing creative talent. She co-wrote and co-directed Aau’s Song for Star Wars: Visions Volume 2, marking the first African-made contribution to the Star Wars universe. Her storytelling explores identity, belonging, and emotional truth, bringing depth and authenticity to every project. Nadia leads productions with a focus on maximizing creative resources while mentoring emerging artists, fostering growth, and creating opportunities for new talent in animation. Through her cross-disciplinary approach, she blends innovation, cultural resonance, and emotional storytelling, inspiring audiences and empowering fellow creatives across the African continent.
